ABOUT:
St. John’s Wort is a pretty, little yellow flower but when crushed, it turns red. The red is from capsicum, which is a powerful anti-inflammatory agent. The capsicum extracts in alcohol, leaving the tincture a beautiful, deep red color.
St. John’s has traditionally been used as an anti-depressant, and was made popular in the 70s. It is known to uplift moods, anxiety, and anything that is weighing you down. It can be used to promote good digestion, ease ulcers, and calm nervous stomachaches. Slow and sluggish body functions, such as hypothyroidism and chronic nervous system diseases, can often be helped with a bit of St. John’s Wort.
When used externally, it can help promote the healing of wounds, acne, and rashes.
CONTRAINDICATIONS:
St. John’s Wort contraindicates around 50% of pharmaceuticals on the market. It can cause the liver to kick out any medication taken with it. It is a good idea to check with a doctor before taking St. John’s Wort to be sure it will not cancel out your current medication.
