Spirulina is a spiral shaped, free flowing, blue-green alga that grows in warm fresh water ponds. Spirulina contains over 100 nutrients, including high levels of vitamin B12, B complex, beta-carotene, iron, potassium, calcium, and magnesium. Spirulina is a nearly a complete protein with eight of nine essential amino acids. It also contains gamma-linolenic acid (GLA), a brain healthy fatty acid that usually only occurs in breast milk.

Chlorella is a green single-cell micro alga that grows naturally in fresh water. Chlorella is a very popular food supplement throughout Asia. In fact, Japanese citizens consume more Chlorella per capita than Americans take Vitamin C.
