More famously known for its ability to attract cats and make them happy and act drunk, catnip is actually an incredible, versatile medicinal herb that belongs in every herbal arsenal. 

Catnip belongs to the mint family. In ancient times, catnip was praised for its ability to help chest congestion, loosen phlegm, ease colicky babies, relieve gassiness, help relieve diarrhea, especially in children, and much more. For colds and coughs, catnip can be used as needed to calm spasms in the lungs. It can be used as a way to promote a productive fever, letting the body do its thing while offering support. 

For all things relating to the nervous system, catnip will be your friend. Panic attacks can be alleviated by holding the catnip tincture in your mouth for 30-60 seconds, allowing it to reach the bloodstream and activate its calming properties. Nervous headaches can be counteracted by consuming catnip tea or tincture, letting it act as a nervine to relax the body. 

Digestive complaints, rooted in nervousness, can be supported with this herb. 

Fevers, aches, pains, tension headaches, panic attacks, coughs, colds, fevers, chest congestion, colicky babies, and diarrhea are all things that this versatile herb can help with. Honey adds a touch of sweetness and medicinal benefits. 

CONTRAINDICATIONS: 

While catnip is in the mint family, some say it can be a uterine tonic and encourage cramping. You can do your research to see if you are comfortable using this herb. No studies have proven it to be dangerous for breastfeeding or pregnancy.
