November 1st marks 3 years of Simply Pure Living!
This year feels a little different than the last two. It has been a year of refinement rather than growth. A slower year, both professionally and personally, that has allowed me to destress a bit, slow down, and pour more into my own life. Looking back, I am so thankful for that season and the opportunity to really nourish my body, mind, and soul before becoming (a little unexpectedly!) pregnant with our baby girl, who is due in just 4 months! It truly is amazing how God's timing works out so perfectly, even when we don't realize it at the time.
Another big life change is that my accounting job, which I've had for the past 4 years, has just come to an end. I keep catching myself thinking that I'm now unemployed, and then I realize, wait, I'm actually solely self-employed! That is a pretty surreal feeling. It's exciting, but certainly a little scary knowing that I am now putting all of my time and energy into this business while also preparing to become a mom.
When I first found out I was pregnant, I actually contemplated closing Simply Pure Living and keeping my accounting job. The other option was to leave accounting behind and go all in on this business. It was a hard decision in some ways, but in others, it felt pretty simple.
Ultimately, I decided that I wanted my little girl to grow up watching her mom do something that makes her feel so alive and passionate, whether it ultimately succeeds or fails. I want her to see what it looks like to work hard for something you believe in, to take chances, and to pursue something meaningful even when the outcome isn't guaranteed.
And I truly do believe Simply Pure Living has so much potential. This business was born out of my own health struggles and a desire to make healthy, non-toxic living simpler and more accessible for others. Three years later, that mission hasn't changed one bit.
I want nothing more than to continue reaching more people and playing a small part in helping them live healthier, happier, more vibrant lives. I want people to feel empowered to take charge of their own health, to understand what they're putting in and on their bodies, and to realize that living well doesn't have to be so complicated. I want to help take some of the stress and overwhelm out of finding truly good products while also bringing attention to the incredible small businesses, farmers, and makers who are doing things differently. There are so many special people behind the products we use every day, and I love being able to connect more people with them.
I am also really excited to see how motherhood changes me and, in turn, changes this business. I'm sure many small business owners can relate when I say that this business feels like a piece of me. It reflects so much of what I value, what I've learned through my own experiences, and what I hope to share with others. As I enter this next season of life, I know my priorities and perspectives will continue to evolve, and I'm excited to see how that is reflected in Simply Pure Living.
I also hope that over time I can share more pieces of myself with you. More of the person behind the business, why I make the decisions I do, and what makes Simply Pure Living so special to me. There is so much intention behind this little shop, from the brands I choose to carry to the products I hope to continue creating, and I want that to become even more apparent as we grow.
So here's to 3 years of Simply Pure Living!
I already know this next year is going to be a whirlwind with so many big changes in my life, but I really can't wait to see how it all unfolds. I'm hopeful that this next year will bring immense growth for Simply Pure Living, but I'm also learning that growth doesn't always look the way we expect it to. Sometimes slowing down, refining what you've built, and making room for new things is just as important.
